Direct answer
As a Hider, choose a plausible spot, pose to match its silhouette, paint the scene's brightness and major color blocks, then stop moving. As a Seeker, divide the map into zones, scan repeated shapes for one anomaly, confirm efficiently, and move on.
For match one, a complete disguise made on time beats an ambitious disguise finished late.
The Hider loop: commit, shape, shade, test
- Commit early. Pick a location with clutter, repeated objects, a hard edge, or believable visual noise.
- Pose before fine painting. Your pose changes which surfaces are visible. Painting first often wastes prep time.
- Match value before hue. Ask whether you are too bright or too dark. Then match the broad color family.
- Add only the largest pattern. One strong shadow band or edge can matter more than many tiny marks.
- Test one approach angle. Look from where a Seeker is likely to enter. Fix the most obvious edge and stop.
Do not spend the whole preparation phase searching for a viral spot. A predictable object group with a good silhouette match teaches you more than a risky novelty location.

What to practice in your first five matches
| Match | One practice goal | Ignore for now |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Finish a basic disguise before prep ends. | Winning or copying a famous spot. |
| 2 | Choose the pose from the nearby shape. | Fine texture. |
| 3 | Match overall brightness. | Perfect color naming. |
| 4 | Test the disguise from an entrance angle. | Watching only your own camera. |
| 5 | Use the result/reveal phase to name one failure layer. | Calling the spot simply good or bad. |
What this guide will not assume
Use the current in-game settings and prompts. We do not publish a fixed keybind chart without a primary source.
This first-release guide also avoids hard claims about player limits, prices, patch timing, or exact preparation duration. Those are volatile facts and should be checked against the current official store page and game build.
Beginner FAQ
01What is MECCHA CHAMELEON?

02What should a new Hider learn first?
Learn the order Spot, Shape, Shade, Stillness. A strong color match cannot rescue an exposed location or a recognizable body outline.
03Are the controls in this guide official?
This guide avoids publishing a fixed keybind chart without primary verification. Use the current in-game settings and on-screen prompts because controls can change.
